The holidays have a way of sneaking up on us, don’t they? One minute we’re sipping our pumpkin spice, and the next — BOOM — the calendar flips, everyone needs something, and our to-do lists start looking like a mini novel.

But here’s the thing I’ve learned (and keep learning): holiday joy doesn’t come from doing more — it comes from noticing more.

More slowing down.
More savoring.
More small moments that feel good in your soul.

And for women like us — the busy go-getters, caregivers, list-makers, and creative hearts — the best memories usually come from simple things. The little things. The things that don’t require a big budget or a picture-perfect plan… just a willingness to pause and soak in the sweetness of the season.

That’s why I put together a list of 20 Simple, Heart-Full Holiday Moments — things you can do with what you already have, in the time you actually have.

Think cozy, calm, low-stress activities that bring your family together, spark creativity, and remind you that abundance doesn’t always look big… sometimes it looks slow, quiet, and deeply meaningful.

  1. Take a slow evening drive to enjoy neighborhood lights — no maps, no agenda, just magic.
  2. Bake a small batch of cookies or your favorite boxed mix and savor them warm.
  3. Have a cozy holiday movie night — fuzzy socks, soft blankets, zero guilt.
  4. Turn on Christmas music and let it set the mood for whatever you’re doing.
  5. Decorate with what you already own and celebrate the stories behind each piece.
  6. Make simple paper snowflakes or punched shapes and tuck them into planners, cards, or windows.
  7. Take joyful holiday photos on your phone — not perfect, just real and memory-keeping.
  8. Read a short holiday story or devotional before bed for a calm ending to your day.
  9. Play a board game or card game by the glow of the tree or your favorite candle.
  10. Write gratitude notes or “love you” cards to the people who matter most.
  11. Have a hot cocoa or tea night with all the cozy vibes.
  12. Turn up the carols and sing along — off-key is encouraged.
  13. Do a puzzle together or work on one slowly throughout the month.
  14. Create a simple handmade ornament (paper scraps, ribbon, tags — easy and meaningful)
  15. Plan a intentional pajama day — rest, relax, and give yourself the gift of no expectations.
  16. Go on a gentle winter walk and notice the stillness of the season.
  17. Make a holiday playlist and dance around the living room while you tidy or cook.
  18. Have a playful “snowball fight” with balled-up socks (or cotton balls!) — laugh on purpose.
  19. Write down a few favorite holiday memories in your planner or journal.
  20. Have a family story night where everyone shares a memory, a joke, or something they love.

These ideas are perfect for:
✅ Busy women in their 50s
✅ Families wanting more connection
✅ Grandmas spending time with littles
✅ Anyone craving a season that feels intentional, not chaotic
✅ My planner girls who love memory-making as much as memory-keeping

And yes — they’re designed to help you stay present, grounded, and kind to yourself during a season that often pushes us into overdrive.

You can print the list, tuck it into your planner, or use it in your December journal. Let it be your gentle reminder that you get to create the kind of holiday season your heart needs — joyful, slow, and beautifully simple.
