For many people, September feels like a new chapter after a busy summer of vacations, kids’ schedules, and long sunny days. For me, it looks a little different — my hectic season runs from May through August with big work projects that leave me stretched thin. By the time September arrives, I’m ready to take a deep breath, reset, and return to routines that help me feel grounded.
And here’s the truth: resetting routines is never easy. It takes intention, small steps, and a whole lot of self-love.
My Planning Reset
During my hectic work season, I had to evaluate how I was planning. I experimented with shifting into a planning style that looks more like a traditional bullet journal — blending structure with flexibility. I found that habit trackers, in particular, essential for helping me stay connected to my morning routine, which has been serving me so well the past few months.
Now, as September begins, I’m excited to carry those pieces of the Art of Planning and Journaling insert forward into my new bullet journal planning practice. My goal is simple: keep what works, let go of what doesn’t, and give myself permission to take baby steps until I find what serves me best.
Why Simple Starts Matter
It’s tempting to think a new month or season means we need to overhaul everything at once. Raise your hand if you've been there, yes I have may hand up. But strong routines aren’t built overnight — they’re built through simple starts. Small, consistent steps like opening your planner, checking your habit tracker, or jotting down a single priority for the day are what create steady rhythms that last.
An Invitation to You
If September feels like a chance for a reset in your world, you’re not alone. Whether your busy season looks like mine or something completely different, remember: you don’t have to have it all figured out. Just start where you are, with what you have.
Here’s to a strong September built on simple starts, new energy, and routines that make life a little lighter.
